Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of gel position pad in the treatment of senile osteoporotic vertebralcompression fractures. Methods 92 cases of senile osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture treated by percutaneousvertebroplasty were divided into the observation group and the control group, each with 46 cases. The observation group usedgel position pad before and during the operation, and the control group used thin pillow and sponge position pad. Compare thevertebral reduction rate and incidence of skin complications between two groups of patients.Result Both groups of patientsachieved satisfactory reduction of the vertebral body, and there was no statistically significant difference in reduction rate and incidenceof skin blisters (P>0.05). However, the observation group had significantly lower incidence of indentation, skin flushing, and pressure ulcers compared to the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Theapplication of gel position pad before and during vertebroplasty can achieve the same reduction effect as the traditional positionpad, significantly reduce skin complications, and achieve the purpose of protecting patients’ safety, which is worthy of clinicalpromotion.
