Abstract:Objective To analyze 188 cases of positive serum immunofixation electrophoresis results sent to our department from January 2023 to October 2024, combined with their clinical diagnoses, to provide a reference for disease diagnosis.Methods Serum immunofixation electrophoresis was performed on 188 patients using the French Sebia Hydrasys 2 electrophoresis instrument.Results Among the 188 positive immunofixation electrophoresis results, statistical analysis by result type showed that the IgG-κ type accounted for the highest proportion at 38.30%. Analysis by referring departments revealed that the Hematology Department submitted the most samples, accounting for 71.28%, with the IgG-κ type being the predominant result. Statistical analysis by diagnosed diseases indicated that multiple myeloma had the highest number of cases, accounting for 41.49%, with the IgG-κ type being the most common. Age analysis showed that the 61–70 age group had the highest proportion, accounting for 41.49%, with the IgG-κ type as the predominant result.Conclusion In this study, the top three diseases were multiple myeloma, malignant tumors, and kidney diseases.The M protein results from serum immunofixation electrophoresis were predominantly of the IgG-κtype, while in the Rheumatology and Immunology Department, the IgG-λtype was more common. Therefore, serum immunofixation electrophoresis plays an important role in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of multiple myeloma, malignant tumors, and kidney diseases. At the same time, attention should also be paid to M protein testing in departments such as Rheumatology and Immunology to provide a more comprehensive reference for the diagnosis of various clinical diseases.
